There’s a TKD school near my house, and during the summer if I’d had a bad day at work I would stand outside and watch a class. It made me feel so much better about myself.

lol and i bet looking at that picture of the guy holding the cat does too

ok ladies well im off to breakfeast, so leave your nasty comments here and i’ll read um’ when i get back.

man what support from the martial art community!

If you knew anything about this site, you’d the the reasons for TKD bashing man. They aren’t unfounded.

ok, TKD guy, the SEARCH button must be hard for you to use, so I’ll spell it out for you

Ok, in TKD, you can’t punch worth a shit, because they don’t let you and don’t teach. Same for blocking punches to the head instead of the body.

They only allow snappy kicks to the body and head. No Leg kicks is stupid. The sparring is largely ridiculous pointsparring. On the surface they are against hitting with power.

Osiris, the badass of Bullshido, was like you. We all said TKD sucked, he not only disagreed but wanted to prove it. He was a black belt except he didn’t pay X dollars to get the damn certification or w/e. So guess what he did?

He threw down with Luan, this MMA guy, and put the pics up of him getting owned. He also (if I remember correctly) used some of his wresling becuase the TKD wasn’t working.

Osiris now, obviously, has changed his style somewhat. He doesn’t think TKD is totally crap, he just wants to fix it somehow with… (gasp) better sparring, punches to the head, and kicks to the legs!

So go spar like a kickboxer or better yet a THAIBOXER (I’m not saying use their techs, I’m saying with their more liberal rules) to see if your shit works, and if you need to make additions then maek the damn additions. And keep your damn hands up.

I would like to suggest, that your refering to TKD mcdojos/ Legit schools are much different.

As a TKD artist, when was the last time you trained your TKD to be used against someone in a full contact spar? That is the criticism that people have with it. That, the year long contracts, the rediculous price of earning your next belt, things like this. I doubt there is anyone here that doesn’t think that if TKD was taught properly by a majority of the schools, and didn’t handout belts to anyone that could pay for them, and then prove itself regularly in full contact and NHB fights, then it would be a viable Martial Art.

Most people consider ITF TKD atleast passable. American style WTF is considered to be a blight on the MA community.

I play capoeira. most of my posts here have gone into defending capoeira. Capoeira here, unlike 99% of the MA forums around is occasionally discussed with intelligence because there are usually people willing to discuss it integillently. Try that. You may be surprised.

No, we aren’t all in it for the same reason. Some practice it for self defence, some for fitness, some for competition, some just for fun.

Raven, my point was Osiris stepped up and found out whats up and realized what he has to fix if he wants to keep using TKD. Neither me nor you woulda done that most likely.

Plus he fought Luan. Thats cool.

Not really, I had previous MA experience, and I knew, once I learned about it, that I needed to improve my ground game. To me that’s just common sense.

I mean, my TKD instructer learned boxing, cause he knew our hand game sucked, and most when I left were learning grappling as well.

see that’s the rub, many of the posters here have done TKD, and they quit. because it was inneffective and frankly it sucks. i can say that the only TKD people that i have met that didn’t suck crosstrained. yeah it’s a generality that TKD suck, but that’s because the good fighters are the exception not the rule. i’ve seen TKD black belts get the crap kicked outta them in sparing against highschool grapplers and judo white belts. as for this little gem,

if we were a website devoted to reviewing cars, and there was a car that only got up to 30 MPH got 5 miles to the gallon polluted 4 times more than other cars and blew up in any collison etc. should we not bash it unless we drove one? or better yet should we say, well it’s a perfectly fine car but it’s not for me, but if that’s your thing go for it?

MA do not have a moral component. you might be learning one alongside your MA. but this is not part of the learning to punch kick throw etc… if you really want to get in to a debate on warrior codes of conduct i am sure that i can write a convincing arguement for them only existing so that the ruling class of a civilsation could keep control over those who held the military power.

finally where in michigan?

because their to illiterate to form an arugment that compares to the begenning one

Really?

tae kwon do sucks ass. pure mcdojo. tippy tappy tippy tappy, oh look I can fight.

Fuck off dickweed. Nothing you say will change the fact that the martial art you study is a waste of time and money.

I’d say a good 85% of the folks I know who are tkd BBs admit that it won’t get it done when push comes to shove.

Waki,

Do those same TKD BB’s who admit it crosstrain?

Some of them. Not all.

You’re an idiot. Whats all this mess about being good people? That as NOTHING to do with MA. In fact, Id rather walk into a gym and see Kibo than mr Rogers.
