Please don’t equate what you do to fighting. I don’t for myself, you certainly shouldn’t.
#1)
Shuma,
What do you think of a flying knee in MT? What if it was called “Gazelle Leap” in Thai? Would you still think that it’s effective/ineffective?
How come I don’t ever see you say something like this to Osiris (w/ TKD), Omega (he did/does kung fu), Asia (Baji), or Clyde (Kenpo)? So much for MMA pretenderism/skill by association, eh? Just an observation…if you think or want to take this as a call out…so be it.
#2)
If this thread concern Deus and he doesn’t even post…then why the hell is everyone else more worked up over it than he is/was? Maybe the two of them have already worked things out among themselves.
As the World Turns on Planet Bullshido…
I assume you’re implying I’m a muay thai nutrider, which just means you’re ignorant. Furthermore, the kick I am referring to is one performed on camera by BSD and was poor even for an imitation of the signature move from The Karate Kid, since he attempted it in “sparring”.
Again, ignorance. Everyone is complaining because good fighters like Deus are being driven off the site by the increasing concentration of pretenders.
If your original comment was only applicable to BSD…then I am “ignorant”. And I couldn’t care less if you are an MT or BJJ dickrider. But as a whole and using your posts and article on MMA pretenderism as contextual info…my assumption is that you have a lack of respect for anything that might be even remotely TMA-ish either through styles or name of techniques. That was why I chose the flying knee in MT as an example. It’s a “fancy” technique, but Remy Bojansky can make it work while Caol Uno got KTFO when he tried it against BJ Penn.
Any technique is a good technique if you KNOW how and when to use it. It’s only Bullshido when the practitioner have no ACTUAL experiences to use/back up any of the so-called Bullshido styles/techniques.
Mike Zambidis gets flying knees to work and Genki Sudo can pull off continuous spinning backfists. You’ll notice that they only use them against guys who they totally outclass. Otherwise they are not reliable techniques. Furthermore, even when there is a HUGE skill difference you don’t see them doing reverse roundhouse kicks and crescent kick bullshit. Some techniques do suck. Live with it.
And Cung Le can use crescent kicks and scissor leg takedowns.
Am I defending ALL techniques? No…and that’s not really NOT my point either.
Edit:
Should be –
Am I defending ALL techniques? No…and that’s really NOT my point either.
Then you need to make a clearer point, since I can’t tell what you are trying to prove or disprove.
Then what exactly is your point? Fuck, Anderson Silva was hit with a scissor takedown to inverted heelhook at Pride 28. It’s a Judo move, so it’s reasonable to expect that it works.
Uh lama… he does karate.
This has nothing to do with tma vs. mma it has to do with people sucking and pretending they don’t.
Not to hijack this thread and maybe I should have started another thread. My point was about Shuma and his predisposition to dismiss anything to Bullshido-Land if it was remotely TMA-ish.
Do you consider Shotokan Karate a TMA?
And your point is wrong. He does karate. He did judo. He knows ronin can kick his ass with either.
Irony boners all around.
Not to mention that BJJ is a TMA.
And you think this board would exist if this doesn’t happen on a daily basis? It seemed like a problem between two members. And I think it’s representative and indicative of Bullshido as a whole due to the nature of Bullshido-ness (how else is anyone going to come to the realization of Bullshido?). Why is it all of a sudden a “problem”?
Shotokan Karate? Alright…I call Bullshido on your ass Shuma (don’t know a damn thing about it). Like I said…if your post was about BSD…then I am ignorant. But I just read it as TMA-Bullshidoness due to the crane kick thingamabob. Guess it’s a sore spot for me esp when Duane Ludwig pulled that bullshit after “beating” (cough cough…ahem) Genki.
(fuck…I knew I shouldn’t have posted from work…esp when I was supposed to go run about an hour ago!!!) LOL
definitely not…esp with your avatar.
It has already been discussed ad nauseum in the BBC why people sucking horribly at throwdowns is an issue.
Furthermore, pointing out to a bullshido member (BSD) that he is not in fact as good as he thinks is what this site is about, just like pointing out other examples would be.
What are you blathering about?
What’s the % of BBC vs non-BBC members? So discussing ad nauseam among a selected group of ppl is going to help the site when the majority of its members is non-BBC? I don’t see how this is “unavoidable” as Bullshido needs “this” in order to exist as a site. So perhaps a different approach is needed instead of popping-up-every-once-in-awhile-like-a-zit-kinda nuisance.
This has nothing to do with TMA vs MMA. I don’t even see how that ancient debate was dragged into this. That’s retarded.
It has to do with someone doing a jumping retard kick and getting told it sucks, then challenging a serious fighter who organized the first Throwdown and trying to discredit him because he didn’t show up to a “Throwdown” which had lost all purpose other than for people to get together and point spar and talk about Tito Ortiz.
For one easy installment of $20 you can have the whole story so you stop having to make up new excuses.
