You know, I’ve always wanted a sleevless suit, naturally if I wore a sleevless Gi with some patches my badass factor would go up by 300% and women would be naked wrestling in the streets to get a piece.
Seriously though, can’t you just remove the sleeves from one? Saying that, reinforced canvas would be hard to re hem :S
Go for the full Akira-from-Virtua-Fighter look and get a white headband too. Then spike your hair straight up and do Baji.

White doesn’t stay clean, but tha’ts not the point.
I wouldn’t suggest getting anything but a white one until you’re enough of a badass to wear something else and then spar a little.
I still wear white.

Well I do TKD and Muay thai, and need it for TKD.
I’m very slim, 32-27-32, 140lbs. 5’8" tall.
I need a good TKDish Gi for all my flashy high jumping death kicks of aerial explosions.
I do want a sleeveless one tough as 1. I need it for a halloween costume. and 2. Sleeves bother me. and 3. They look so damn cool. :-p
Note: By the way, I know it’s not called a Gi, it’s called a dobok in Korean, but most people know them as Gi’s so I refer them as such not to get people all twisted in a panty.
I would get a faded black sleeveless Gi and put a big tiger face on the back like Heihatchi mishima’s. THen i’d need a biker moustace, bald head and crazy white spiked hair on the sides.

Other MA’s usually white, unless they like to be pretentious and wear either black or red.
Doesn’t TKD use the shirt-gi’s? Don’t waste your money on a grappling Gi if you’re doing TKD…

But I do both? That’s why I want one white one (tkd dobak) and one black one (JJgi). And one sleeveless one for those days when I want to look seemingly bad-ass but not really. But this way I can acessorize correctly. It’s very imporant to be fashoinable while sparring. If you don’t respect your looks then how are your opponents going to respect you?
Now should I go with blue or green eyeshadow?
I did TKD as a teen and reading Tao of JKD saved me for that knightmare, got a purple belt though (woopty friggin do, i know). That old gi I use for pajamas now. I’ll be starting BJJ when I get the money at Travis Lutter’s school just outside of Arlington Texas.

I go with Swayne double weave judo gis.
Mine’s been in solid service for over 4 years, and if I hadn’t played soccer in the pants while I was in Japan they would not be covered in my hack patch jobs.
- don’t get a heavy gi for tkd. you’ll regret it every second. just get a cheap and light one, the lighter the better.
TKD in a heavy ass judo gi is the only way to go; builds character.

Sirc, you can look into kickskin, but i’m not sure what you’d find. you would be much more successful looking into kikskin.
Seriously though, a solid gi that has lasted me years of grappling, striking, and clinching training for like $40 or $50 when everyone else is saying a good gi runs you $100…
I don’t know what you people are doing to kill your gis so fast, but quality is not that expensive.

i know you own a stars and stripes dobak, and a fluorescent bo staff with sparkles. I KNOW.
I have one dobak that is torn to shreds and the other is orange and black- OSU’s colors- and I rarely if ever use it. I have one light-weight black karate gi that has seen better days.
Then I have the aforementioned Swayne which has seen me through just about everything.
In our TKD class, most of the black belts wear heavy gis such as mine, most are heavy weight TKD/karate affairs and not quite as heavy and solid as a double weave judo or bjj gi, but all the same heavy.
Light weight dobaks are for beginners and WTF pussies.
