Seems like sort of a roundabout method of taking the back to be frank… Why not set the hooks and establish a harness of some kind? I imagine there’s a justification. I imagine this guy is good so I’m not bashing whatsoever but I’d certainly like to get some rationalle!

I’d be smashing my heels into that dudes thighs and working to get a harness and a tilt, myself

That guy is def on performing enhacning drugs

but anywaysss…

i prefer to go for brabo chokes from turtle, but that might be cause i’m a tall lanky guy and I enjoy chocking people with my arms.

Haha Marcelo, I though I was the only person qho experimented on chokes… solo! Weird.

Anyway, I think the most important thing is that chokes put people out and then you win. But ugh, I’m also having fun looking at the anatomy of this stuff.

Read the comments by myself and judoka uk, we explain the rationale in Judo.

Also, there are simply different ways to approach the turtle, getting hooks in/harness/tilt is only one of them.

KimuraTyme, the fact that you’re unable to see any other option other than digging for hooks to take the back reflects the fact that you’re approaching the turtle from a BJJ perspective only. The advanced grappling forum is for more than just BJJ practitioners, a fact you would do well to remember.
