A WOMAN has thwarted a would-be rapist by gouging him in the eye and kneeing him in the stomach after she was attacked in central Queensland, police said today.
The 20-year-old was standing outside a closed takeaway food shop in Rockhampton about 10.13pm yesterday when a man approached her, asking her to perform a sex act on him, police said.
When the woman refused he punched her in the face and knocked her to the ground.
Police said the man then attempted to remove her clothing but was thwarted when she gouged him in the eye with her fingers and used her knee to hit him in the stomach before escaping. The man also fled, stealing the woman’s handbag.
Indeed! Only I heard they had to stop telling people it was an eye gouge because somebody really did take someone’s eye out with it, and in court it was all “eye gouge? THIS motion? NOOOO it’s a something-else…!”
Thinking that simply blinking renders an eye-gouge useless makes about as much sense as thinking eye-gouges render grappling useless. Eye-gouges are effective and painful, they work in real life (with a real life example straight from t3h str33t), but they are not the end-all beat-all technique that some styles claim.
Isn’t there an Indian martial art centred around eyegouging?
Evil Asia, my fellow hoplologist Angry_Historian, I needs it for me research!
On another note, the fact that innocent people can’t stand outside a takeaway in the most kickarse state of the greatest country in the world without being accosted by carny bagsnatching thuggish perverts only proves we should isolate them.
With the carnies declaring independence, we should invade New Zealand and set up a “prison colony”, seeing as we can no longer ship our own carnies to anywhere in Australia and…
I know blinking isnt the perfect defense to an eye gouge , but it helps a whole lot .
But I wasn’t kidding about the finger nail part . Finger nails really help distract attackers when you apply them directly to the eyeball itself .
I heard of two guys in a fight, one gouged out the eye of the other, and even though it was hanging there, it didn’t stop him. I guessed if you’re too drunk/crazy you kinda wouldn’t feel it.
