I protest!

What if Persian ninjas find him asleep?!

If a decent boxer can move around, he’s got all the skills and conditioning needed to pick 99% of attackers apart, especially if the fight lasts longer than ~45 seconds.
Boxers do risk self-injury if they haven’t done any strike conditioning.

Its sad that 90% of TMA don’t receive or want this type of training and conditioning.

You’re doing it wrong.
That’s like saying good power lifting requires muscle tear injury at least once.
Conditioning bones is no different than muscles, progressive resistance is key.

Forget the bloodied knuckles you see in movies, no good/smart MA instructor wants blood on the training equipment. Hygiene and blood-transmitted diseases and all that.

Contrary to my Faber/Brown example, however any skilled boxer who hits you hard enough to break his hand has more than likely knocked the shit out of you.
Highly subjective, as MMAMickey says, body blows ftw. The face probably is the most jagged surface to punch. Statistically speaking (IANAL), damages awarded as a result of injuries sustained from body blows tend to be lesser. Unless of course, hospitalization occurs (internal bleeding, organ rupture, etc).

Let’s face it, a fucked up face looks pretty bad in court. Three months medical leave from a broken rib? Not that bad, and depending on your lawyer, it could even look frivolous.

…what?

Implying that conditioning to punch bare knuckled is mutilation.
