Funny thing is that I’ve heard this particular piece of misinformation before - I was just thinking about it yesterday. I think it propagated thanks to Mark McGwire’s home run title in '98. IIRC, he said he was using both creatine and androstenedione (which is a prohormone that’s converted to testosterone), and so it kind of makes sense that people would confuse the two.
