I heard about athletes seeing stuff in slow motion. Do any of you guys experience it and if so how often. I don’t know the scientific name for it but I heard it being called “being in the zone,” once.
I do, but it usually brings me to the attention of mysterious ‘agents’. so i limit the amount of times i do it.
Some people refer to it as Bullet-Time. Apparently in times of danger, your brain can “flip a switch” and process information faster due to the circumstances. Thus, things can “slow down” for you. I am sure anyone who has ever sparred has had this sensation.
Someone bring the science up in here. Where is Tom Kagan when I need him? =D
DXM, THC, Alcohol, Opioids…take your pick.
send in the trolls
Someone on the force once told me that his buddies had told him when they are being shot at, things slow down for them and they can almost see the bullets whizzing by. He said it never happened to him but I thought it was an interesting story to add.
Back when I was bodyguarding. . .
I recounted that I saw someone in the crowd
go for, and pull a knife, as he approached the
client’s pod.
I was walking toward the crew at the time,
and was about ten feet away from the client
with the knifeman at least three feet behind.
Everything then, brokedown in slo-mo:
I reach the pod, disperse the client to one side,
take down and disarm the knifeman, and only
got a little slice across my thigh.
To this day, I will swear I couldn’t have seen
the guy pull the knife, as he was blocked by the
entire left side escort of the pod around the client.
The stupid part was he was after one of the
bodyguards.

In a few instances of extreme stress and/or potential danger it felt like time was dragging substantially. I get something similar but less substantial during sparring and rolling.
*raises hand.
It is a matter of attention.
Because you are paying more attention to the situation, you consciously recognize more details.
That or the mushrooms you ate. . . .
–J. “My Hand . . . is . . . SOoooOOOoo . . . BIG!” D.
I was always found the blows and kicks to be coming at me at just the right speed to remind me how hard and fast they are actually going.
what the fuck are you talking about?
Athletes like Asia and Omega are able to see things in slow motion. If you noticed Omega said that this has happened to him. But Losstrak said that most people who spar experience it. Maybe your body isn’t pumping enough adrnaline for it to happen.
Only when I weat my special magic hat.
