if so, tell me why my moonroof is broken. It’s currently in that back end only up position and it refuses to close or open completely.
also why the shit do so many fast food places have too little syrup for their drinks. tastes like fucking shit.

What year is it?
it’s a 97
I’m not a mechanic, but I believe I’ve diagnosed the problem. It’s a 97.
do i detect a hint of jealousy over my vintage as a motherfucker sports car
Jealous? Hell no. You don’t have shit on my whip. Come back and see me when you’re pushin’ a 2000 Cavalier.
Is it out of it’s track?
Or misaligned?
or you could, y’know…have someone look at it…
If you’re not trolling alot of these European cars have a manual override for the Sunroof.
where?
My VW has a problem with the moon roof as well. It just randomly comes open, though most of the time I can get it to close easily. It really sucks when it’s rained all night and I find my moon roof open in the morning.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and tell you that a mechanic or dealer… JUST MIGHT be able to help you here… granted, going to a Ford dealership might not yield the results you are looking for…
does it make a grinding noise when you try to return it to the seated position? My lancer did that for a while and when I fiddled with it, I saw a piece of god knows what had flown into the tract and jammed the bearings.
on my MK4 there is a little panel on the roof liner that I can pop off, the motor is under there and there is a little hex-crank thing I can put in it to manually turn it.
My roof broke twice before they fixed it right !@@#$!@ german engineering.
Go to VWVortex.com and search the forums there.
Man, I love my little Jetta but I hate its pitiful cup holders. I just spilled soda all over my fucking car today.
P.S. Jack in the Box’s ciabatta sandwiches suck.
If you’re not hearing a motor whine or seeing a load on the electical system when you try to move it, start checking fuses and circuit breakers. The fuse diagram is in the owners manual.
Are there any other electrical devices in the car that are not working?
This could help figure out if the problem is on a larger circuit ( broken Wiring Harness) or specific to the roof (motor)
I thought a sunroof was the automatic one and a moonroof was the tinted pyrex one with a manual latch.
am i wrong?
edit:
Other way around.

Dear Yahoo!:
What’s the difference between a sunroof and a moonroof?
Heather

Dear Heather:
Having just gone through the long and drawn-out process of purchasing a new car and asking that very same thing, we here at Ask Yahoo! felt uniquely qualified to answer your question. According to the helpful salesman at our local car lot, the difference is in name alone.
Of course, we all know you can’t believe everything someone, especially a salesman, tells you, so we looked for confirmation. A search on “sunroof moonroof difference” promised to uncover the truth. Sure enough, the very first search result was a page of frequently asked questions from sunroofs.com, a site “devoted to public awareness and education about automotive sunroofs.”

The answer?
“Sunroof” is the generic term used to describe an operable panel in a vehicle roof which can let in light and/or air. “Moonroof” is a term created by Ford in the 70s, yet is now used generically to describe glass panel inbuilt electric sunroofs.
Hmmm, so all moonroofs are sunroofs, yet not all sunroofs are moonroofs? We found further clarification – “sunroof” is the term originally used to describe a metal panel that would only allow light or air in when opened. A “moonroof,” on the other hand, is a glass panel that can allow light in even when it is closed (provided, of course, you slide back that nifty fabric-covered panel to expose the glass). [/b]
True sunroofs, those made just of metal, appear to have gone the way of 8-tracks in automobiles, and these days, most “sunroofs” are really “moonroofs” – panels of tempered glass, usually tinted, that tilt up to allow a flow of air, or slide back into the roof entirely, giving the car occupants a brief but tantalizing glimpse of life in a convertible.

[sing-taunt]Yahoo is smarter than FFF…[/sing-taunt] :eusa_danc
Gosh, I just work in automotive prototype development,
What do I know?
BTW, Try checking places that actually sell sunroofs, and then look at auto brochures,
the price pretty much tells the story.
Sunroof = $100-$200.
Moonroof = $800-$1200
When Yahoo! builds a custom car for a living, call me.
already fixed it nigger
Glad I could be of help,
It’s always nice to be appreciated.
