NAPLES: Deputies were trying to contact a man who man several unusual visits to a Collier County karate studio. But after talking to the man, deputies found out he had legitimate business-related reasons to be at the academy.
The staff at Naples Academy of Martial Arts on Preserve Lane, called authorities Saturday morning after the man visited the studio for the third time.
Each time he carried a large plastic cup with a straw into the business and observed a karate class after telling the staff he was new to the area and looking for a place to enroll his children.
The first incident was on Wednesday, July 11, at the Airport-Pulling Road location. The man watched the class and then left.
Thursday, the man went to the Preserve Lane location, again gave his name and told the desk worker he was new to the area. He then watched the class for an hour and a half.
During that visit, employees thought they noticed something odd about the cup. They say it looked like it concealed a camera in the bottom and the straw acted as an antenna, possibly sending a signal to whatever was contained in the man’s backpack.
That claim was false as investigators found the man did not inappropriately tape activities at the children’s academy.

Still, that’s weird. Why not just bring the kids to the class or come to Bullshido to ask for advice on picking a school?
