No girls or booze, but a sweet video featuring UFC bouts. Was going to stick it under MA in the News, but I guess it’s not really a headline. I noticed someone posted it on Sherdog, but didn’t see it hear yet.
Godsmack just happens to be my favourite band, to the point I got their name&logo tattooed when I was 16 before Ozzfest 2000. It’s pretty sweet getting your favourite band&sport all in one.
I hope you live long enough to realize how bad of an idea that was.

I get so sick of people telling me that Rise Against is punk rock. or that other crap band, think it’s called “Against Me” or some BS like that.
But to recap, Godsmack:guitar: sucks.
Godsmack is okay. Their songwriting is nothing spectacular. Sully Erna is a good frontman. I respect Tony Rombola for not abandoning guitar solos like every other band during the 90s / early 2000s. They’ve got music you can bang your head to when you’re in the mood. They don’t sound like a bunch of pussies. More than I can say for most bands.
I’ll give you that. They just sound like every other clear channel metal band, ya know?

True, but they didn’t sound like every other band when they came out. A lot of those bands have imitated them.
I’m not a huge fan, so I’m not going to put too much effort into convincing anyone they don’t suck. But, I think musicians are a lot like martial artists in some ways. As a martial artist I can appreciate fighters that succeed at the highest levels and realize it’s lame to bash a fighter that could beat me like a bitch.
As a hobbyist musician who plays a little bit and has tried his hand at songwriting, I can appreciate how badass and difficult it is to make the music and perform the way a band like Godsmack has done. They’re not Zeppelin or Sabbath, but in the grand scheme of things, they don’t suck.

Alright, I get not everyone is going to like the band, but even if you think they suck shit, I thought it was cool for them to feature all of the UFC clips for their video. The frontman is some short dude about 5’4’', that’s also a boxer, and knocked one of those huge bouncers out cold at a concert when he tried to bum rush him thinking he was a crazed fan, and not the singer.
Anyways, the frontman was originally a drummer. Their actual drummer is sic, and everyone including Tommy Lee admitted he ripped the guy’s style off. If you’ve ever seen them live, there’s not many bands that do their “drum war” between the frontman&drummer.
