Unfortunately they do not expressly claim to teach BJJ or GJJ, just “down fighting”. But then that’s bad enough.
Yeah but, it is the implication. If I say down/ground fighting, neither of which claim grappling, then list the names of 20 instructors seminars I attend, the inference has been made.
WHAT???
Dai,
I’m an old fart, what in the hell is “down fighting”? I thought it might have been a fancy term for “pillow-fight”.
Usually, in stiking arts, it means fighting from the ground. In other words techniques designed to get up or avoid grappling. No grappling (BJJ/MMA/Sambo etc.) is included mainly kicking or punching at knees and such.
Great investigation.
So do we all pony up $10 apiece and send Anna or Lord Asia over?
Absolutly unnecessary, Stillwater has a Bullshido population more than capable. Not that I don’t want anyone to come and visit, but well, ya just don’t need to for this.
I love the fact that he got beat up by a blind guy.
What’s your next move gonna be?
That information is classified.
Dai’s gonna get a parapalegic to roll with this guy…and choke him out.
How about that guy with no arms and no legs?
Is it morally upright to force ‘the light’ upon people? Or to leave it to them to see if for themselves?
Discuss.:eatbaby:
Ask any Jesuit missionary.:godtroll:
/me puts a shell in the camber and aims it at you. “So wanna convert? and be saved?!”
Is it morally upright to claim certifications and championships you did not earn? Is it morally upright to teach what you do not thoroughly know? Is it morally upright to foster false confidence in one’s students?
No, No, No.
I wasn’t trying to crap on your thread. I think it’d be awesome if Mr. Coda Scott was beaten by a blind guy…at a national tourney.
Edited for Typo
I gotcha.
Denny Holzbauer
Wow thats a blast form the past. And shows what a lazy, insensetive SOB I am.
Denny, Rob Hale, Steve Whitaker, John Roundtree…all pple I’ve lost touch with since I left OK.
Maybe at a Throwdown I will show a tape of a long goofy haired Asia fighting in the ABKA in '98.
BTW Dai do you know a guy named Skyler Coleman. He was attending OSU. His parents ran the Kyokushin school in Lawton that I trained and taught at under Rob Hale.
As for the “downfighting” thats what groundgrappling was called in those schools when I was there. I remember at a testing at Drexler’s Acadamey I swept the guy testing and continued on the ground and they said, “No downfighting during this phase.”
It truly is a small world after all. (don’t flame me for saying that)
Nope, don’t know Skyler Coleman.
When I first came here and joined OSU TKD in 2000, part of the Wild Bunch, downfighting was really frowned upon at the tests. In the last few years I’ve been getting a lot less wags of the finger and a lot more tips of the hat for taking people down and dealing with them there.
Plus I haven’t heard anyone call it down fighting in a long time.
Progress marches on
Man I can’t wait till I get my own internet connection, I go away for a few days and I miss all these goodies! Though I do have to claim a small bit of credit for being involved in some of the initial detective work, but Dai gets all the points for compiling everything we found out.
This guy is a certified lunatic. He’s even gotten up on stage with “Preacher Bob,” the local inflammatory evangelist who storms our campus and slanders sorority girls, to encourage us to listen to his words of wisdom. My fiancee saw him for the first time (not knowing we already knew who he was) and asked, “Is that guy mentally handicapped?”
