How did no one respond to that…it was FUCKING funny!

since you put it that way, i went and listened. congrats, you saved this pathetic thread. nice dog, too

He is even cooler in person. One hellava ambassador for the breed!

what breed is he? can’t really tell from the pic, not that i’m an expert. we’re considering doggers right now. my son is dying to get one. how are they with kids?

He is an American Pitbull Terrier. This breed was known as the nanny breed for a LONG time, because of high pain tolerance(they dog get hurt or mad when tiny fingers get jammed in eyes or whatever) and their natural gentle nature, that being said, they are a HIGH energy breed and are best suited for experienced dog owners.

Have y’all had dogs before? What is the family dynamic like(i.e. do yall go for family walks or outdoor activities)? Matching a breed to family traits is important IMHO, it just makes for a smooth easy transition for everyone.

I will say ALL dogs MUST be walked regularly, not only for the exercise but also for the bonding and leadership(so they know who to look/listen to). Dogs are pack animals and want to be told what to do, and it is your job as an owner to do the telling.

“A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and the importance of turning around three times before lying down.”

If you have other questions, just post in this thread or PM me, but I always like to abuse Trollshido by hijacking crap threads!

i’m with ya; this is far more important than anything else going on in this thread.

hmmm, like i said, i’m no expert, but i didn’t guess he was a pit. hard to tell from the pic. they got a bad rep here, basically 'cause there’s a ton of shitheads who abuse them and encourage aggression. but the size is definitely right, and the family protection programming is even more right.

i had a couple of dogs for about fifteen years. one was a chow mix, on the aggressive side. the other was a staffordshire/rhodesian ridgeback mix. he was just huge for his breeding, 135 pounds, but a nice, nice dog. but yeah, you gotta boss them around, and i’m okay with being the alpha male. thanks for the info.

I have had a couple of rottweilers and they were also great dogs. Most of the powerful breeds that have a bad reputation are actually great dogs if raised correctly. My son used to lie on my rottwieller’s stomach and go to sleep when he was small. In fact, the only problems we ever had were when people tried to approach my son and the dog was too protective.

Conversely, someone tried to get into the house one night when my wife was home alone and my 60kg dog convinced him to remove his hand from the hole in the gate by giving it a “friendly” shake.
