Some dojos teach it. However, walking into most BJJ schools and expecting to learn good standup fighting is like walking into McDonalds and expecting a gourmet meal served with a fine wine. This is why most strict BJJ players who want to get into the MMA scene usually box on the side.
So do you think it’s good to learn another martial art to supplement bbj or can bbj by itself be more than necessary to subdue an attacker when you start fighting standing up.
I guess what I’m asking is do you get the guy down and then use techniques? are there technique to bring someone to the ground from the standing position?
Most BJJ places in my town have a separate striking curriculum (usually Muay Thai). I’d imagine a good number of them around the US have this same thing.
And billybob, why don’t you just go to a local BJJ school or two and watch, instead of posting “How do takedown?” Wasn’t there a sign on this mall dojo?
Yeah, that would taken soooooooo long. “Excuse Me, can i ask what you guys are doing?”. Then when they told you, you just yell “GONG SAU, BIOTCHHHHHHHH!!!” :eatbabies
