From what I understand “Hak Fu Moon” is not “Fu Jow Pai”. How Hak Fu Moon differs from Hung Gar is that its suppose to have more techniques than Hung Gar. ALthough Hung Gar master Wong Fei Hung traded techniques with Hak Fu Moon master Wong Cheung (I beleive?). Hak Fu Moon is more internal than Hung Gar and also have some brutal training methods using a 9 limb dummy made out of iron, stone and wood. Among other brutal conditioning techniques.
Ah yes I believe it was actually started by Cremeofsum Yunguy, a very rare and exotic system.

Yes…wasn’t that the guy who was fond of grappling from the mounted position?
Well, yeah, like I said some of the stuff in Fu-Jow Pai is directly from Hung Gar, and I’ve only been doing it since February '03, so there’s really so much I haven’t seen that I didn’t wanna say it’s all from Hung Gar, but it’s supposed to be directly passed dowm from the Shaolin Temple. Fu-Jow Pai is the only real Tiger Claw System from Shaolin, and it used to be called Hark Fu Moon, so I really don’t know about the other guy you’re talking about or where he got his black tiger style from, but it’s not the Hark Fu Moon from Shaolin that turned into Fu-Jow Pai. So like it said in that site I posted in my earlier reply, maybe that was just one of those examples of people claiming to know the “real” tiger claw system that originated in Shaolin.
From what I understand Wong Cheung’s system doesnt try to mimic a tiger. It consists of other animal forms and other techniques etc.
It has been known that only teaching one animal style masters took from others to fill in the holes. One style of animal has its weakness’s, therefore Masters would take stances, forms, techs from other styles to fill in the gaps of what the animal style they mastered had.
I really dont think its really the “animal styles” per say that make a difference. Its the over all techniques within the system. And the techniques dont necessarily attempt to mimick an animal of some sort.
Hi ,
I come from HK , i konw someone learning this style
Hey Smartung. What does he say about this style? Where about is the school in Hong Kong. I might travel to Hong Kong if I have to. To learn.

It is my understanding that while Hung Gar does have a tiger set, it is more than just tiger while traditional Fu Jow Pai is only tiger.

Mimicing an animal is not the techniques its how the animal generates its power, how it strikes, and within human body limitations how it moves.
You use your body to mimic how the animal moves, generates power and strikes. no matter what your still mimicking the animal to some degree.
I dont see why it has or should to pretain to “animals” or “animal like” movements only? Maybe I’m not getting you??? Like to fill in gaps why not mix i.e. white crane with shaui jiao, or ie. Hsing with wing chun etc. etc.
Filling in the gaps would be mixing arts. you take a little from here and there to make the main style you are learning stronger, regardless of what style it is… But if you are learing anything that realates to an animal is should be teaching you how the animal fights and generates its power.
Filling the Gaps is Mixing.
