Besides, my original point was assuming someone who does kung fu can’t fight is a stupid idea because of Sanda, assumption is the mother of all fuck ups and a very good way to get your ass kicked in MAs. The rest of this argument is adjunct and completely fucking pointless IMO.
And by kung fu I mean CMA, please don’t go down the fucking semantics route.

I realize that’s a reply to someone else but:
Most Kung Fu I have seen IRL is forms-based and chances are so is most Kung Fu you’ve seen IRL too. When 40% or more of Kung Fu schools practice Sanshou I’ll assume anyone who says they’ve done Kung Fu for awhile can fight. Until then it’ll just be a pleasant surprise whenever it happens.
That being said, I didn’t mean what I said in a disrespectful way towards CMA in general. I realize a lot of the styles are overall pretty dang good in-and-of-themselves and there are schools that spar.

How do I define Kung Fu? I don’t. I define kickboxing as two fighters using kickboxing to fight each other. Sanda doesn’t look anything like Wing Chun or Praying Mantis. It looks like kickboxing. Just my opinion.

I have not trained in it. I’ve trained in kickboxing and boxing and Sanda looks like kickboxing. I see no Kung Fu. I do see them wearing boxing gloves. Thanks for the kind words.
