We are a super mean country and have no rights. We get forced to leave early during bushfires.
I noticed people are not doing that in L. A.

In California we don’t have to evacuate but you can stay if you want to die. I live in Texas but I’m from California.
Yeah. I noticed a few videos of people trying to fight fires with buckets and stuff.
I saw those videos too and I just cant comprehend the idiocy of some of these people.
Even beyond that I dont get why somebody would spend millions of dollars on a house and include all kinds of security features to prevent somebody stealing from them or attacking them or their property but would spend zero to protect against fires which are a regular feature in California.
That said I watch to me own detriment Air crash investigation programmes regularly which more often than not identifies several issues that contribute to the catastrophe .
Watching everyone blame everything from DEI policies to climate change to lack of funding to protecting a fish I cant help but think that perhaps they are all correct in differing measures.
Even for someone who’s somehow able to afford property in that area they still don’t have the resources to pay for their own private fire department. They depend on the city that they pay taxes to, to protect them.
Not necessarily a personal fire department but more individualised fire mitigation strategy depending on the property .
In the same theme as evacuations. If we build in a bushfire area. We have have a bushfire proof (ish) house.
But i assume that is why some houses were miraculously spared while others burnt down.
Instead of the popular opinion that it was space lasers or whatever.
Queensland, Australia, the Australian Standard for the Construction of Buildings in Bushfire Prone Areas (AS3959) sets out the requirements for building in bushfire prone areas. These requirements are intended to reduce the risk of loss and injury to people and property.
Requirements
You can check with your local council to find out if your property is in a designated bushfire prone area.
Most California homes don’t fit those requirements.
