I was reading the flame war on the gamefaqs forum and it came to my attention that you seem to know alot about the ground game, could you expound a little more on the following direct quotes from that forum:
On the ground the bigger guy is going to have the advantage no matter who the better grappler is. The weight/strength advantage will be exploited even more. If you get in the mount as Orion Suggests, what is to stop the bigger stronger guy from bridging and lifting or even just grabbing your arms and breaking them or twisting them into a pretzel until you submit? In the weight difference that you are talking about you are talking about the person being in the mount weighing less than what the larger guy bench presses… why can’t he just fling your tiny ass off of him?
“To whomever was talking about holding the head down/leverage etc… You can mount the larger guy all you want - he still has use of his hands for strikes, SJM, and simply whacking you around. In the particular case of Djimbe, he can bridge with me in the mount - your weight isn’t an issue. He can also do a sit up with me in the mount resisting him - so you aren’t going to win there. I am not saying Djimbe is invincible or unbeatable in any way - but you damn sure don’t want to get someone bigger and way stronger than you on the ground - his weight is going to dominate - hell he could just roll over and be on top of you - game over.”
from these quotes, i take it you take you must train on the ground alot since these seem to come from experience. can you explain what makes you state these examples?
These quotes show that tigerfly knows nothing about the ground.
A big guy on his back is in much worse trouble than a small guy on his back. The fatass would have to haul all his weight plus yours, not easy to do. A smaller person can simply shrimp out.
The “roll over and be on top of you” comment is particurlarly telling. A bjjist WANTS the dude to roll over. That’s when he takes his back and sinks his hooks. Rear naked choke. I don’t care how big he is.
As far as submissions from underneath the mount, it has literally never happened in thousands of MMA matches, even when there’s a huge weight difference. Getting struck? I refer you to melton bowen vs steve jennum, ufc 3. A world heavyweight boxing champion vs a state trooper who’s much smaller than him.
Here’s another example: Nogueira vs sapp. Nog sure as hell wasn’t gonna outstrike the beast.
Or gracie vs severn.
I’m so pissed at your ignorance.
You fuck cows in retrospect. Quit squeezing our 'rhoids.
Don’t laugh guys, ANYTHING is possible.
Maned space flight is possible.
Finding Jimmy Hoffa is possible.
Pizdoff getting laid, possible.
ANYTHING can be possible, no matter how unlikely.
When I started Jits, I was asked by Rener to mount him and stay on. Rener is 195, I at the time was pushing 270lbs. I got Upa’d off quite easily.
He then asked me to get him off of me. I know I’m stronger than Rener, I knew it, I could bench 300lbs for reps,I could do my weight in sitting shoulder presses, but for the life of me couldn’t get him off of me. God only knows I bridged as hard as I could and tried to “Bench Press” him off me.
What my story and what Tigerfly’s advice have in common is easy. In both instances, neither one of us had any grappling experience whatsover.
Me: Well see Football Player 1, it’s funny because that’s exactly what we train for. Getting you off wouldn’t be that hard.
Football Player 1: Humph. Well, I mean, if you honestly think you’re strong enough to throw me off you, be my guest
