April is Law Enforcement Officer Month

Most of what I feel about cops has been said in Sociocide, hopefully all of it taken positively. Mad props to cops, who have one of the hardest and deadliest jobs in the world where you still have to be uber-civil to the “customer.”

Do you think the automatic siding of the justice system and popular sentiment (usually) with your word balances that a bit?

Your honor, he tripped, fell on my nightstick, and broke his arm in three places.

Do any LEOs consider there to be a “good ol boy” attitude in their precinct? What I mean is, if you were told, or caught a fellow LEO abusing their power, would you feel like it should be kept within the police, let the guy repent and reform? Or do you feel that the law should come down hardest on those who uphold it? That any smirch on the reputation of the law makes every other officer’s job that much harder?

I hate cops. I have honestly never called the cops for anything in my lifetime. I own a Sig229…that my friends, in the correct context, is law, order, and justice all in one.

Only those with porno 'staches, now.

Except for when the gang next door all have AK47s, and decide they like the look of your wife, worldly possessions and your blood when it’s on the outside.

Cops kick ass, and every cop I have ever met was calm, polite and effective. Shit, I wouldn’t feel safe in a lot more places at night if it wasn’t for the constant police patrols.

And hey, I don’t break the law and I don’t look like a shifty motherfucker, so I’ve got very little to worry about.

In Israel the cops are unmotivated, underpaid, and the law system is slow and gives small punishments for even murderers and especially rapists.

There was this guy that spent only 5 years in jail for MURDER, came out, was pulled over drunk by two cops, one of them was an idiot and gave him the carkeys because she believed him when he told her he just wanted to turn on the air conditioner in his car, escaped and killed a beautiful young girl in her early twenties.

Truck drivers with 20, 30, and more traffic violations still drive and kill people, young punks go out to clubs and every week one or more gets stabbed with a knife by them…

You could say I’m very disappointed with the police and the legal system in Israel. I know if I will get in trouble with one of the criminal families my only two options to save myself is moving to another country or kill their entire family myself.

I was physically attacked when I worked in security in front of 20 cops (it was independence day). They did nothing. I wasn’t hurt, just shoved, but still, one of them just took a few steps, and returned to his place. Completely useless.

To people that complain about LEOs: You don’t know what it is like to be an LEO unless you have actually have done the job.

To LEO’s still on the job and ones retired: I am thankful for the selfless service you provide or have provided. My families thoughts and prayers are with all the families of LEO’s lost in the line of duty especially the Philadelphia PD…RIP.

Salute to all the LEOs out there.

I know and am friends with a bunch of the cops here and always give them a props…do the same for the LEOS in your area.

Thanks, Phrost.

Yes, it is sometimes difficult with policy as it is. But the realistic officers pursue training on their own dime to help the situation. Are there bad cops out there? Sure. IMO, I believe the rest of us pressure them to turn it around, but there are not a whole lot of fields that do not have their fair share of DB. If they mess up bad enough, they get prosecuted like any other DB.

To all of my brothers and sisters out there, be safe and make it home after your shift.

I too am completely shocked that, after seeing a Security guard get shoved while working security, all the cop did was note that no one was hurt and the situation was apparently handled before deciding no action was necessary. Shocked, I say!

I also would like to remind everyone that, though Street Cops are certainly our first line of defense and deserving of our thanks, there are a lot of other Officers in the LE community that we should also appreciate. Including, but not limited to:

USM
FBI
ICE
ATF
Border Patrol
Federal, State and County Probation and Parole
Corrections Officers
Jail Deputies
Investigators
Court Officers/Bailiffs
Etc.

I personally haven’t seen the “automatic” siding of the justice system. If it were automatic, then I wouldn’t have to go to court to justify my actions. I actually don’t have a problem with it. It just gets under my skin a little when someone who has never been in a fight, never had to restrain someon, and never been spit on for it; questions my actions.

I just wish they could walk a day in my shoes before they start to judge me.

I also respoct everyone’s right to hate cops. Just as long as the hate legally.

I’m a cop…and guess what, there are some cops I really don’t care for. There are some egotisticle, over bearing, insecure individuals serving your communities as cops.

I think it’s also safe to say that some people may be surprised at just how poorly some cops train…i.e. they can’t fight or shoot worth a shit.

Some cops are “dirty”, have no people skills, and really hate their jobs!! Keep in mind (this is just my opinion) this is a small minority of the law enforcment population, which gives us all a bad rap. The same problems can be found in many other careers…you wouldn’t believe what I have seen in the medical field.

Some of the cops that some people think are pricks, are probably some of the same ones that many other cops (like myself) really don’t like working with. :car8:

no disrespect to our brothers and sisters keeping order on the force locally and federally, but i’m seriously waiting for bullshido to declare girl-girl KY jelly wrestling month.

that DEFINATELY is not many other careers- that has to be all other careers.

the medical feild has more than its fair share of people with heads up thier ass, and to boot worse horror stories about just plain incompetance that will make you want to turn to faith healing as a legitimate means of health care.

Hehe…no shit, I actually tried acupuncture for my bad back and it seemed to really help.

Edit It could have just been the “placeble effect” who knows? I’m sure that wrestling with bad guys while wearing a 20 pound duty rig has nothing to do with back problems:rolleyes:

props and blessings to y’all

it’s a thankless job.

stay safe!

Solution: Move out of the ghetto.

Looking shifty never stopped a cop from intentionally violating your constitutional rights. Their merit comes from arrests, and that creates incentives for them to shit on the constitution.

one of the 20 cops standing behind my should have at least make sure the guy goes through the security checks before going into a crowded area where thousands of people are celebrating independence day, I mean, part of their job is making sure no suicide bombers get in there, don’t you think? They guy went in the crowd undisturbed. I expected the cops to do their job, I shouldn’t have expected this and maybe I should have used more force to keep that man outside. I learned my lesson after that incident and others. Luckily I don’t work in security anymore and won’t have to ever again…

Remembers “Aikijutsu” taught as a way to respond to violent I/Ms when working Corrections in Western Canada. Shakes head

Anyway, from West to East, I sometimes wonder what police members, given entertainment-district beats, are being punished for (likely a lack of seniority). They get to deal with the roid-raging drunks after we chuck them out of the clubs.

RRD: “Hey! You can’t fuckin’ do this to me! I’m calling the cops!”

Me: “It’s time for you to leave.”

RRD: “FUCK YOU–hey! Let go! SOMEBODY CALL THE COPS!!!”

Me: “Actually, someone has–the club management.”

RRD: “GOOD! We’ll see what they say when–”(constables arrive)–“Hey! Osiffers! I wanna charge presses on this guy!”

Officer: “Hey, Rob.”

Me: “Hey, Pete.”

Officer: “The usual?”

Me: “The usual.”

Officer, to RRD: “Okay, you, go home!”

RRD: “Wanna make a ponclaint against this…”

Officer: “What you want to do, in your present state, is GO HOME!”

RRd: “Hey! You can’t fuggin’ do thish to me! Thish ish p’lice brutaldy! Fuggin’…fuggin’…”

Officer: “Another overnighter. Shit. That’s, like, the tenth one tonight, and it’s only eleven o’clock.”

Me: “Sorry, guys. Here are my notes on this one.”

Officer: “No worries. Thanks. Here’s the file number.”

Me: “Thanks. Hope this is the last one.”

Officer: “Yeah, right. Well, there’s always hope. Have a good one.”

Me: “Thanks. You too.”

For every Robert Dziekanski, there are countless idiots like the one above, and some of them are far more dangerous to deal with. The training that members are allotted, to deal with all this shit, is a government crime against LEOs.

Lol…one of the places I police is a big party place (marty graw…beads, women flashing everything) type of district (yes…I know tough job right:icon_wink)

I can’t count how many drunkin knuckleheads we haul off to jail for almost exactly the scenerio you described.

I can’t stand drunks, they can to be voilent and un-predictable…pot heads on the other hand are ok, Jimmy Hendrix never started a fight! :icon_geek

Edit for Disclamer -Unless the pot being smoked is laced with “wet”
