Wrestling is a good choice, actually.

This gym is in nearby Brighton as well: http://www.gladiator-mma.com

Right.

Aggressive and powerful describe a number of Eastern as well as Western martial arts. It also indicates that you’re most likely basing your criteria on Kung Fu movies and the like.

While wrestling does not have the mystique that Kung Fu does, it is both aggressive and powerful. More to the point, it’s almost guaranteed that it’s much more readily available to you due to your geographic location than a solid Kung Fu kwoon.

I was your same height at 15. I have used wrestling many times as a youth and as an adult to deal with larger and heavier opponents.

All that said, if your heart is set on learning Kung Fu, look for someplace that successfully competes in San Shou or Lei Tai competitions. Doing forms all day will not teach you how to fight.

If you still don’t want to join the wrestling team, I suggest Judo.

It contains some of the oriental trappings, you appear to be after and…

It’s cheap and widely available.

How many fights have you been in exactly?
All that said, if your heart is set on learning Kung Fu, look for someplace that successfully competes in San Shou or Lei Tai competitions. It won’t be deadly, but you will know if it works by testing it on the mat.

wrestling, judo, boxing (in that order) > anything kung fu that you are likely to find.

You could check out this guy:

Evidently he trained quite a bit in San Shou, which is like a full-contact competitive format in which Chinese martial arts techniques are used. The guy is also a Judo black belt, which is a plus. I can’t speak to this person’s quality though, because I just found him on google a minute ago. Even if this guy isn’t in your part of Michigan, you can call him and maybe ask him for some recommendations.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he tells you to take judo or wrestling.

thats why i put “” around it gosh, stop being so negative, you know what i mean, i couldnt think of a word, and no i dont want to kill anyone, if you cant figure out what i ment you must not be smart, and yes a 15year old can be but i dont want to.

ive been in 3

I really am looking for shaolin monk types of kung fu, but i know that isnt going to happen lol
i couldnt think of a word
I can tell.
and no i dont want to kill anyone, if you cant figure out what i ment you must not be smart, and yes a 15year old can be but i dont want to.
Funny, a kid who fails to capitalize “I” more than a dozen times and who writes “takewondo” critiquing my intelligence. Your English writing skills suck ass, so I’d stop the projection.

I think you’re a troll and your southern kung fu skills would suck anyway. Go do judo.
I really am looking for shaolin monk types of kung fu, but i know that isnt going to happen lol
Nope, not for a delicate flower like yourself. Do judo.

So now you have to resort to being a grammar nazi to get anywhere? i really dont care what you think of my grammar, i dont need to impress anyone. Also how would you know that i would do bad haha now you are assuming, and sound very angry… pathetic. lastily, the shaolin monks are not exactily big, and the goal is not to get hit if i can block something, my “delicate flower” body wouldnt get hurt. oh and are you really a martial artist, i thought they were suppose to have dicipline, and not have anger managment issues. guess i was wrong.
as for the takewondo i dont know how to spell it, and so what, im not a perfect speller, neither are you and i find it sad you have to correct my grammar becuase i am right and thats all you can say.

idk lol i must of picked the wrong one somehow. and i usually set the date to 1990 because some have a age limit.

Interesting.

Anyway, you are a minor and headed down the wrong path. Ask your questions, hurl your insults and be careful you don’t make any threats. Have fun.
