55-year old Canadian stabs bear to death

BTW - his dog survived. Great news.

You don’t know what the words you use mean.

Pretty wild story…
Pit bulls are banned in Ontario and also in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
There is nothing wrong with the breed, it is stupid owners that are the problem.
I am buying a Doberman Pinscher in a few months…finally talked my wife into letting me have one.

Get a boxer instead.

What those stories don’t tell you is how the pitbull later ate its owners.

My instructor’s seeing eye dog is a pitbull. She is a damn good dog on many levels.

I’ve personally seen her protect one of the kids under my instructor from a Chow. A kid that had never paid any attention to her before the Chow tried to attack him.

That’s a pretty dog, glad it survived.

I advocate genocide for pitbulls.

You should move to Canada.

You don’t say…

Wrong response.

You were supposed to say, “I already live in Canada!”

And then I was gonna be like…“That explains it”

BTW how much time is served for murder in Canada - an average of something like 7 years? Such an odd ambiguity. A society of blameless victims and massive social safety net willing to dole out genocidal collective punishment on a species in an effort to feel safe.

Nope. 28.4 years, on average, for first degree murder.

http://www.justice.gc.ca/en/news/nr/2005/doc_31690.html

In comparison to most other Western democracies, sentences of imprisonment in Canada are lengthy and have been increasing in recent years. A 1999 international comparison of the average time served in custody by an offender on a life sentence for first degree murder shows that Canada exceeds the average time served in all countries surveyed including the United States , with the exception of U.S. offenders serving life sentences without benefit of parole.

Average Time Spent in Custody

Australia 14.8 years
Belgium 12.7 years
England 14.4 years
New Zealand 11 years
Scotland 11.2 years
Sweden 12 years

United States
life without parole 29 years
life with parole 18.5 years

Canada 28.4 years

One province in Canada (Ontario) and maybe a couple of municipalities have pitbull bans. They’re hardly in danger of ‘genocide’ across the rest of the country (in fact they’re practically mandatory in east Vancouver, where I live).

A quick google search showed me that Chicago, Denver and places in New Mexico and Mississipi either have or have considered pitbull bans, so it’s really nothing to do with Canadian culture per se.

In fact, I think you come closest to the truth of the matter when you relate pitbull bans to the the pathological culture of ‘safety’ in North America more generally. I actually think the USA is the worst place I’ve been for that, maybe because everyone is shit scared of being sued because of the out of control law suit potential down there.

Apparently the article I read was taken down.

Also, I found out it was a 73 year-old Kenyan man, not 72.

About dogs, I used to have two Rottweilers for about 5 years. I was told that they were good, protective dogs.

I also heard that German Shepherds are some of the best guard dogs you could possibly have.

Very interesting to hear that pitbulls are good dogs, all I’ve ever heard of was horror stories but I believe that it’s more the owner than the dog.

Look motherfuckers…don’t try to skew my gross mistatements and general pidgeonholing of all Canadians. Because then you make me sound like people who believe all pitbulls are bad, k?

Goddamn no joke taking ass nugget Canadian huggers.

THAT IS 50 DKP MINUS!

Pitbulls are not a species, and are not necessary…I don’t think they should be banned, but I do think there ought to be open season on’em all year 'round if they’re not under the control of their owners.

You know, the funny thing is that I’m not even particularly patriotic. I just get annoyed by the weird ideas about Canada that circulate in the US media (Ann Coulter’s batshit-crazy commentary last year being the most extreme example).

At least you were joking. Check out this clip of a Canadian comedian taliking to folks in Arkansas about Canada:

America vs Canada

And it is my opinion that it should be open season of Canucks year round if they aren’t either at a hockey game, or at an ice fishing hole.

Take a good hard look. Read the stories. This is the reality for many pitbulls who have done nothing other than having the bad luck of being born a pit. Thrown onto barbeques, dragged behind cars, beaten with bats, set on fire, stabbed, shot and various other cruelties.

For every hyped up pit attack story there are dozen of untold stories of attacks on pits. But most don’t care. Because these dogs should be shot on sight, right? Take a look at the animal and what we have done to them. Its a wonder they can show love at all.

And for the record I will attack on sight anyone I see abusing an animal. Especially a pitbull. No confrontation. No warning. No threats. If they only understand violence than that is what they get. And I will take thier animal. There are very few things I feel so strongly about.

LOL - more like “assholes vs. retards.” That clip is strong evidence that no nation has a monopoly on idiocy…

This beer ad kind of captures Canada’s collective annoyance with sterotypes and cliches in US pop culture:

I hear you. People who abuse animals fucking suck, and moreover are also likely to do fucked up things to other people. From what I’ve read, a lot of serial killers start off with torturing animals before moving on to ‘bigger things.’
