I am very impressed with this lad’s actions and surely he deserves to be badass of the month?
CHICAGO (AP) - Eleven-year-old Luis Reteguin remembers jumping on his mother’s knife-wielding attacker in the dead of night and screaming, “Let go of my mom!”
He and his mother spoke over the weekend about the attack at their Chicago apartment.
The boy says he wasn’t playing hero when ran to his mother’s room after he heard her scream around 1 a.m. Friday. He says he just wanted to protect his mom.
After slashing the boy and his 40-year-old mother, Susana Reteguin, the intruder fled when Luis managed to grab a phone and dial police.
Both son and mother suffered knife wounds to their faces and other parts of their body. They were released from hospital Saturday.
Police say they haven’t made an arrest in the case.
There’s a video via the news story on the link where the lad describes grabbing a knife and going for the attacker. He also repeatedly kicked him in the face to try to save his mum.
Not quite as balls out but as armed attackers storm his house, a 7 year old kid drags his sister to the bathroom, barricades them in, dials 911 and asks for “Cops, lots of them… bring soldiers too” as the raiders where breaking the door in.
Police got there sharpish and the attackers left empty handed and no one was harmed. Another brave and very smart kid.
There are some badass kids out their. More power to them! I sort of feel bad for what could have happened but as long as no-one was harmed, the boy did right by his mother.
